Training for you

Dedicated training is available until March 2020. We will help you and your teams to understand the model and develop knowledge and practice skills. Our aim is to support you to embed the new ways of working in your organisation.

A number of programmes are available. Discuss with your manager to agree the most suitable training for you. It is important you book on a programme in your work location. This is to help you build networks with colleagues you will be working with.

Training for You
  • Two day programme for leaders

    Who is it suitable for: Executive Members /Directors/Head Teachers/ Senior Managers

    How long is this programme: Two days

    Programme aim: To develop knowledge and understanding in New Ways of Working from a strategic perspective. To understand your role in leading and implementing the approach within your own organisation and supporting the wider initiative across the partnership in embedding a common and consistent approach to working with children and families.

  • Three day programme for managers and practitioners

    Who is it suitable for: Practice Leads / Middle Leaders / Managers and Targeted Practitioners
    How long is this programme: Three days

    Programme aim: To understand the New Ways of Working model, principles and values and apply this to your role in working with children, families and multi agency partners.

  • Half day learning events for all

    Who is it suitable for: All staff, particularly beneficial for practitioners who have attended New Ways of Working training
    How long are the events: Half a day

    Event aims:
    • develop your practice skills
    • see how others are embedding new ways of working
    • look at best practice and understand how this can be applied in your organisation
    • talk to practitioners who are using trauma informed practice and motivational interviewing
    • network with colleagues who are using learning conversations and multi-agency group supervisions

  • Ambassador programme

    We are looking for ambassadors to help you and your teams understand the model and support you to embed the new ways of working in your organisation.

    Who is it suitable for: Practitioners who have attended the new ways of working training, are passionate, motivated and able to influence change, champion new ways of working, support peer learning. Support is available to help you in this role.
    How long is this programme: Half a day

    Ambassadors help:
    • their teams understand the model and embed it in their organisation
    • promote new ways of working using Trauma Informed Practice and Motivational Interviewing
    • set up workshops/briefings for their teams and services to support learning and development
    • identify resources to share and promote wider learning across the partnership

Training is free

New Ways of Working is drawing on Department for Education funds therefore there is no cost of training for partners. However once a place has been booked there will be a charge for any non-attendance. This is to cover administrative costs.
